FAQ's
Motorcycle Gloves Explained
Gloves have many important jobs to do. The most simple of these is to keep the hands warm and dry, which is crucial for ensuring safe control over your motorcycle. However, motorcycle gloves play an even more critical role, to protect the hands from abrasion and impact.
The worst-case scenario can occur when a motorcycle rider loses control from either a collision or slide. In these circumstances, the body's natural reaction is to push a hand out for protection or stability, causing pain and damage.
Motorcycle gloves feature many design details and technology. These all work together to fulfill their essential role. So, read on while XLMOTO points the way to choosing the best motorcycle gloves to keep your hands safe and secure.
Safety Markings Explained
Like most personal safety equipment, European safety certification for abrasion and impact resistance also applies to motorcycle gloves. This printed information appears on a square label and is divided into sections. The label is stitched into the gloves.
The CE label on a glove has sections to show the following key pieces of information:
Top Square: The icon of a rider on a motorcycle shows that its certification is as a motorcycle glove.
Lower Left Square: The numbers 1 or 2 reveal its CE rating. Number 1 for a basic pass or 2 for an advanced pass.
Lower Right Square: 'KP' (knuckle Protection) shows that the glove's knuckle protection has passed an impact test.
Underneath the box may be the numbers EN 13594: 2015. This section shows the test designation and year.
