The Ideal Women's Motorcycle Touring Outfit
Vanessa Ruck Author
Finding motorcycle gear designed specifically for the contours of the female body can be a challenge. As a passionate female rider myself, I’m always on the hunt for equipment made to fit comfortably for women.
In this article, I’ll showcase a full head-to-toe touring outfit tailored for lady motorcyclists. From versatile jackets and pants to sleek gloves, boots, and a helmet. Catering to woman while providing safety, comfort, and protection from the elements.
Jacket Details: Rev'It Outback 3 Jacket
The Rev'It Outback 3 jacket is designed specifically with the female form in mind. The jacket features a durable construction using 600d polyester material along the main body, with even tougher 1600d reinforced panels placed in high impact areas prone to abrasion.
Protection
For protection, the jacket comes equipped with Rev'It's SEESOFT CE level 2 armor in the elbows and shoulders. The back is ready for upgrade as well, with a pocket to add one of Rev'It’s SEESOFT back protectors for extra impact absorption.
Adjustability and Ventilation
Several adjustments are built into the jacket to dial in the fit. Straps at the bicep, forearm, and waist allow you to taper and snug areas for your unique shape and size. Ventilation comes from zippered chest vents that can be held open with snap buttons to maximize airflow. The high collar can also be secured open a bit with a hook and loop tab for better breathability.
Pockets and Storage
When it comes to storage, the Outback 3 has you covered with pockets to spare. Two zippered hand pockets sit on the front chest, along with a large cargo pocket across the back. Inside the jacket you’ll find yet another handy pocket for carrying small essentials.
Rain & Weather
The whole jacket system features a removable hydrotex waterproof liner and a removable thermal quilted liner. This versatility means you can configure the layers based on riding conditions - keeping you comfortable in everything from summer showers to cold winter weather.
Matching Trousers: Rev'It Outback 3 Women's Pants
The Rev'It Outback 3 women's pants are designed as a more comfortable and durable option compared to traditional leather motorcycle pants.
Materials and Construction
The trousers are constructed using a 600D polyester shell reinforced with 1600D polyester in high abrasion areas. This three-layer fiber shell provides abrasion resistance while the stretch panels and pre-shaped knee construction allow for a comfortable, contoured fit.
Protection
Protection is provided by Knox Lite CE-rated impact pads fitted in the knees. These pads contour to the knees for comfort while riding yet offer flexibility when walking.
Adjustability and Ventilation
For adjustability, the trousers feature a hook and loop waistband that can be tightened for a secure fit around the hips. Ventilation is achieved through mesh paneling on the thigh cargo pockets.
Pockets and Storage
There are two large cargo pockets on the thighs with an additional small zippered pocket on top. The cargo pockets have a Velcro closure and weather protective flap
Rain & Weather
The trousers come complete with a full removable hydratex waterproof liner and a thermal quilted liner for versatility across seasons and weather conditions.
A mid-back zipper allows the pants to securely connect to the matching Outback 3 jacket or other Rev'It jackets to complete the outfit.
Matching Trousers: Rev'It Outback 3 Trousers
These adventure touring trousers from Rev'It are designed to pair perfectly with the Outback 3 jacket. As a fellow female rider, I appreciate gear made specifically to fit and flatter the female form.
Materials & Construction
The Outback 3 trousers are constructed using a durable 600D polyester shell, reinforced with 1600D material in high abrasion areas. This provides ample abrasion resistance while retaining comfort stretch.
Adjustability and Ventilation
For superior comfort and fit, the trousers include an adjustable waist strap and velcro ankle cuffs to dial in the perfect tapered silhouette. Ventilation comes from mesh paneling on the thighs so air can flow to the lower half of your body.
Protection
For protection, Knox Lite CE-rated knee pads are integrated. These contour nicely to the knees even while walking, due to their flexibility. The shape and placement are designed not to hinder movement or comfort in the saddle.
Pockets and Storage
Convenient and practical cargo pockets adorn both legs, sealed with velcro closures and weatherproof flaps. The large main pockets have full wide openings for access, with additional handy zippered pockets on top. Ventilation mesh on the pocket sides aids airflow.
Rain & Weather
The trousers utilize a removable hydratex liner and thermal liner, providing versatility for any weather conditions. Wear both in cold and wet rides, or remove as needed to adapt. The liners connect securely with an interior mid-thigh zipper.
Around back, a jacket connecting zipper allows attaching these trousers to Rev'It jackets effortlessly. The adjustable waist straps and velcro ankle cuffs enable you to tailor the fit. Silicone grip patches on the inner knees and seat provide extra stability in acceleration and braking.
Complementary Summer Gloves: Rev'It Sand 4 Gloves
With a woman's typically narrower hands and longer fingers in mind, these gloves contour comfortably while providing ample protection.
Designed Specifically for Women
The overall shape and curvature create a slimmer, more tailored silhouette. The leather construction remains soft and pliable, enabling dexterity on the bars. The slender profile aids grip and feel.
Materials & Perforation
The abrasion-resistant leather and textile materials offer durability along with cooling airflow perforations for hot weather riding. Injected details on the knuckles allow ventilation to permeate, keeping hands cooler. The breathable textures prevent overheating.
Protection & Adjustments
Injected thermoplastic rubber (TPR) knuckle protection carries a CE level 1 rating, while remaining flexible. For a secure fit, a velcro wrist strap tailors the diameter snugly in place. With feature-packed summer gloves designed by women riders for women, we can finally flaunt functional style!
Waterproof Touring Boots: Rev'It Quest Outdry Boots
These women's specific adventure touring boots from Rev'It provide waterproof protection without sacrificing comfort or style. The sleek silhouette and range of sizes accommodate narrower ankles and calves.
Materials & Construction
The Quest boots feature a durable cowhide leather construction for abrasion resistance, with thermo-formed reinforcements at the heel counter, toe cap, and shin. The soles utilize Vibram rubber for unmatched wet/dry traction and grip.
Waterproofing
Inside, an OutDry membrane lines the boots rendering them 100% waterproof, so water cannot permeate from the outside. This keeps feet dry while allowing interior moisture to escape.
Comfort & Grip
For walking comfort, the boots offer just the right amount of flexibility while the padded mesh interior provides next-to-skin softness. The Vibram soles supply exceptional grip on and off the bike. An integrated gator behind the zipper seals out moisture.
With their women's specific design, protection, and waterproof/breathable technology, the Rev'It Quest Outdry boots make an excellent choice for female adventure riding and touring. Their performance perfectly matches the rest of this integrated weatherproof touring outfit.
Flip-up Helmet: Acerbis Serel Helmet
The Acerbis Serel packs great features into an affordable adventure touring helmet for the female rider. I'm always seeking gear designed specifically with women in mind, and this flip-up lid fits the bill.
Shell and Visor
The injection molded thermoplastic shell keeps weight reasonable at 1500g while providing full-face protection. The anti-scratch treated visor offers a wide field of vision for excellent visibility. An integrated sun visor deploys easily with a single gloved hand.
Interior and Ventilation
Inside, a hypoallergenic liner feels soft against the skin and removes easily for washing to keep the helmet fresh. Fully adjustable top and rear vents allow customizing airflow over the head. The ventilation system provides welcome cooling on hot rides.
Other Features
The micrometric buckle fastens securely under the chin with a quick release button for convenience. An optional pinlock-ready visor is available to further combat fogging. Considering the features for the price, the Serel is an ideal choice for female adventure and touring riders.
