Enjoy Life Behind Bars with 24MX Handlebars

Throw a leg over a dirt bike, and your first instinct is to reach for the bars. Of all the crucial parts of any motorbike, their importance is often something taken for granted, which is interesting, as, without motocross handlebars, you’re going nowhere. Motocross handlebars may not have switchgear for lights, indicators, or horn, but their height, width, and pullback dimensions are vital. The dirt bike rider needs to stay in complete control even when standing on the footrests. So the handlebar’s dimensions ensure the brake and clutch levers are exactly where the rider needs them.

This attention to detail is why 24MX offers an extensive range of motocross and pit bike handlebars in varying widths and heights. Due to the harsh nature of the sport, MX handlebars are available in various materials and tubing thicknesses. The most common material is aluminium, which is considerably lighter than stock steel handlebars. For more serious dirt riders, some manufacturers offer magnesium handlebars. These are 45% stronger than standard aluminum types and incredibly lightweight.

Most stock dirt bike handlebars are 22mm in diameter. Yet with more manufacturers supplying MX bikes with ‘fat bars,’ aftermarket tapered bars are very popular. With the ends of the handlebars retaining the stock 22mm diameter, tapered bars widen towards the centre. This design means that the part of the bars that fit in the clamps is 28.6mm. This difference in diameter allows for an impressive strength gain while remaining flexible enough at the ends to take the knocks without bending.
