Enduro Pants Buyer’s Guide:
10 Things To Consider Before You Buy
Are you shopping for enduro pants? Choose pants that suit your preferred riding style -- whether it’s hard enduro, dual sporting, or trail riding -- using these ten practical tips.
If you’re into hard enduro, dual sporting, or trail riding, you probably already know:
The average motocross pant isn’t tough enough to withstand the harsh conditions encountered by riders who venture into the mountains, forest, or desert.
That’s why enduro pant design has evolved over the years to meet the needs of riders who venture away from civilisation, where crashes and collisions with rocks and trees can have serious consequences.
From improved durability with leather panelling and triple stitching, to “comfort upgrades” like pockets and zippered venting, today’s rider has a lot of choices!
Here are some tips to help you make the best buying decision:
#1 - CONSIDER YOUR RIDING STYLE (AND SEASON)
Before you start shopping, consider your riding style and season.
Hard enduro riders who tackle slower, more technical terrain in colder alpine regions, for example, may prefer a heavier pant than a dual-sport rider who will be travelling at higher speeds over longer distances in warmer climates.
Your desire for features like venting, pockets, and waterproofing will be impacted by when and where you’ll be riding!
#2 - DO YOU WEAR KNEE PROTECTION?
If you ride with knee braces or knee pads, you’ll want to purchase enduro pants designed to accommodate your preferred style of protection.
Fortunately, the roomier leg design of most enduro pants more easily accommodates knee protection than some of the more fitted motocross-style pants.
#3 - HOW IMPORTANT IS OVERALL GEAR DURABILITY?
If you’re an enduro rider, the durability of your pants will matter a lot.
Most riders hope to get at least a single season out of one pair, if not more.
So the design must be durable, flexible, and tough!
Look for pants that feature extra panels and reinforcement in high contact areas like the seat and inner thighs, where the pant will be making frequent contact with the bike.
(Many enduro pants feature leather panelling on the inner right leg for heat protection from the bike exhaust.)
Also, look for reinforced knees that offer protection for both the rider and pants during a crash.
Other features to consider include heavy-duty zippers that can withstand mud and dust. Plus, a fly that closes over the zipper, again, to help keep out dirt.
#4 - DO THEY NEED TO BE WATERPROOF?
If you’ll be riding in wet conditions – or tackling water crossings during your adventures – you may value an enduro pant designed to be waterproof, or at least water-resistant.
Consider an over-the-boot style that features gaiters to help keep water out of your boots.
#5 - DOES VENTILATION MATTER?
Most enduro pants feature ventilation; some feature lining that wicks away moisture. Others include air-cooling features that direct air into the pant via venting.
Some enduro pants include zipper vents that are convenient on warmer days.
Plus, a few styles can be turned into shorts, with zipper-off pant legs, for post-ride comfort.
#6 - DO YOU PREFER OVER-THE-BOOT VS UNDER-BOOT FIT?
Rider preference will guide your choice here: do you prefer an over-the-boot (OTB) or under-boot fit for your enduro pants?
Both camps argue passionately for their comfort preference.
OTB riders claim the style is more comfortable overall, and they’d never go back to under-boot designs. The over-the-boot style can help keep dirt, rocks, and water out of your boots, too.
However, under-boot riders claim they don’t like how the pants can occasionally get caught on their kickstart lever, footpegs, and trailside obstacles. And some riders claim the looser fit of the OTB styles make it harder to grip the bike firmly with your legs.
#7 - DO YOU WANT POCKETS?
Many riders value pockets for easy access to phones, keys, and snacks.
While pockets are rarely seen in motocross pant designs, you’ll find them more commonly included in enduro pant styles.
#8 - WHAT’S YOUR FIT PREFERENCE?
Before shopping, take a few minutes to measure your waist, hip, thigh, and inseam.
Then consider the expected weather and temperatures you’ll encounter when out riding. If you’ll be layering your gear for warmth, then choose your pant size accordingly.
Every brand of enduro pant offers a different fit, so you’d be wise to review size guidelines. You can’t assume a MEN’S LARGE, for example, will offer an equivalent fit from brand to brand.
#9 - CONSIDER OTHER SAFETY FEATURES
Other features you may want to consider when shopping for enduro pants include:
Removable hip pads for extra protection.
Brighter gear for increased visibility.
Reflective gear, again for improved rider visibility.
#10 - OVERALL QUALITY & COMFORT
It’s generally a good idea to invest in the best enduro pants you can afford.
While there are excellent budget options available, like with most gear, the quality of enduro pants varies by price. The level of protection in which you invest should depend on your budget, riding style, experience, expected terrain, and overall aggressiveness as a rider.
Better quality pants last longer and provide better overall protection.
Look for pants that feature heavy-duty zippers and buttons, triple stitching, flex panels, leather panels, reinforced knees, and adjustable closure systems.

24MX Motocross Pants Offer
Protection Safety and Style
Motocross pants have many boxes to tick in terms of performance and style, so it’s a good job 24MX offers such an incredible choice. Here you’ll find over 20 top MX gear manufacturers offering every style and colour of MX trousers imaginable. So, saddle up and check out the best features to look for in motocross pants.
Fit
Motocross is a strenuous sport calling for the rider to spend as much time in the saddle as standing on the footrests. This continuous action means protective gear should bend and stretch with its wearer. Motocross pants, to accommodate this, may combine several materials which work in harmony with one another. As a result of the cut and fit, good MX trousers should feel like they’re working with you, not against you. If possible, search for motocross pants with pre-curved legs. This feature ensures no pull on the front of the knee area when seated. In addition, when standing, motocross competitors ride with a slight bend at the knee, this acts as a shock absorber when landing jumps, and pre-curved legs help in both of these circumstances. MX pants should also provide reinforced stitching in areas of high wear and movement, such as the knees and seat. This feature, when added to parts of the MX pants where different materials join, prevents seams from separating.
Material
The material used in the construction of MX pants, or motocross jersey and pants sets, has to be lightweight, tough, and provide a little give. For these reasons, polyester-based materials are ideal when combined with other wear-resistant components. Due to its ability to expand and contract, Spandex is a common feature in areas of high flex, such as around the crotch, knee joints, and waist panels. With so much movement during the ride, heat build-up can be a problem, even if you’re not competing in a hot climate. To offset this, look for MX pants with sections of breathable material.
Ventilation panels will also aid in directing cooler air inside the pants, and if they feature an inner liner, it’s ideal for it to be either perforated or mesh. Some MX pants may offer rubber inserts around the inner knee area to provide added grip on the gas tank. Leather panels located on the inside of the lower leg are another feature to consider. These panels will help prevent burns from hot exhausts and engine cases. An essential area of the motocross pants is an often overlooked area, the waist, Yet like other trouser parts, it has a role in the overall comfort and fit of MX pants. Micrometric or ratchet buckles are a common choice for MX pants. They are quick to open, offer small increments of adjustment around the waist, and provide a secure fastening.
If the product description includes a non-slip waist, this is a plus point. Silicone bands inside the waist ensure an MX jersey doesn’t ride up or become un-tucked. As dirty and dusty as motocross events are, riders want to cross the line looking as stylish as the moment they started the race. To ensure this, check out motocross pants, whose colour panels and logos feature sublimated printing. This method gives fade-free MX pants that will stay looking sharp. Considering all these features and fabrics amongst the vast 24MX line-up of motocross pants, you’ll find race-winning pants at class-leading prices. And that’s a win-win for everyone!
