Buckle Up with 24MX Belts and Buckles

Whether you wear jeans or armoured trousers, you will need to hold them up, and where there are loops, you need a belt. The type of belt you choose has to be strong, secure and adjust quickly, but if you thought all belts were equal, read on.

Are motorbike belts a good idea when riding?

Riding on dirt requires a degree of standing on the footpegs. When landing a jump, the last thing you need to worry about is whether your trousers will stay up.

A good quality belt is an essential piece of motorcycle riding kit, making choosing the right type an important decision. A motorbike belt plays more than a supporting role, it can also help protect the kidneys and provide an anchor for your motorcycle jacket.

Types of motorbike belts

Woven Nylon Belts: These tactical style belts or webbing belts are incredibly tough as befits their military heritage. With its woven nylon strands, a good quality belt of this type can hold well over its wearer’s body weight.

Kidney Belts: A decent kidney belt can help ease the load on the lower back whether riding across hills or a cross-country road trip. These wide elasticated belts are mostly adjustable to ensure a snug fit. Kidney belts are also suitable for helping to maintain a good riding posture.

Connecting Belts: This belt type is an interesting offshoot of the conventional style as it has two uses. Apart from its trouser holding duties, it’s possible to use the connecting belt to secure a jacket to the rider’s trousers.

In most cases, when joining a motorcycle jacket and trousers, both garments must be the same brand. However, you can use a connecting belt on any style or brand of conventional or motorcycle trousers with loops. The rear third of the belt features a zip wich secure the trousers to the jacket.

Being able to attach both garments means there is no gap between the two pieces of clothing. The closure prevents weather incursion and also stops the jacket from riding up and exposing the lower back in the event of an accident.

Features to look for in motorbike belt

A belt is only as good as its buckle. First, inspect the product images to ensure the buckle looks robust. For woven or webbing belts, the buckle should be adjustable and securely and easily fastened.

The same degree of robustness applies to leather style belts with conventional buckles. Ensure the frame of the buckle fixes securely to the motorbike belt, and the prong locates in its groove. A securing loop is also a good addition as it holds the overlap of the belt.

As for kidney belts, adjustability is key, and the best materials allow for airflow.

Whether you are looking for a conventional style motorbike belt or one that provides added protection, buckle up with 24MX’s belts and buckles.
